The Debbie Ford Memorial Fund
Donate to the ASA's efforts to restore the Amazon rainforest in Peru in memory of our friend Debbie Ford. Through the Debbie Ford Memorial Fund, we will plant trees that will one day grow into towering rainforest giants, helping to make the world a healthier place for people and wildlife.

What will your donation do?

The Amazon rainforest is under threat by logging, illegal gold mining, and unsustainable conversion to agriculture. As the forest disappears, so too do the countless plant and animal species that depend on it, and our own prospects for a healthy, secure future are diminished.
One of the ways we are working to reverse the loss of the rainforest is by planting trees. Debbie was a committed nature lover, and we think that restoring the Amazon—the largest and most biodiverse rainforest on Earth—is a fitting tribute to her memory. Money generated through this fund will be used to plant trees in strategic areas at and around our field site in Peru, Finca Las Piedras, which has been heavily impacted by human activity. Strategic areas include planned wildlife corridors, to connect isolated patches of habitat and give plants and animals the space they need to maintain healthy populations well into the future.
We have already committed to the area shown above, and additional funds will allow us to greatly expand our efforts. There's still so much left to do—every additional tree planted stores carbon to mitigate the impacts of climate change and is a potential home for one of the rainforest's countless threatened animals. Every dollar raised through the fund goes right to where it is needed most, to plant trees. Pease consider joining us in our fight for the Amazon by making a contribution to this effort in Debbie's name.
