Resident Naturalist

Our team of Resident Naturalists play an important role in our research, reforestation, and education projects in Peru. Naturalists are responsible for the day-to-day management of several ASA projects at Finca Las Piedras, our field station in Peru's Madre de Dios region, including data collection and management, maintenance of facilities and project physical spaces (shadehouses, laboratory, etc.), and reporting. This is a dynamic position, and there is ample freedom for Naturalists to develop their own independent projects that further the ASA's strategic interests.

Those applying for this position should be mature, adaptable to a harsh working environment, and highly detail-oriented. This is also a residency position, and Naturalists are expected to live and work on site at least 5 days per week.

Position Duration: 6 months

Work Schedule: 5 days/week, flexibility in schedule required

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in biology or related field

Lepidoptera Research Assistant

Lepidoptera Research Assistants play a key role in the ASA's Lepidoptera Diversity and Biology project, which aims to document butterfly and moth distribution and natural history at Finca Las Piedras and throughout southeastern Peru. Research Assistants are responsible for daily data collection and management, collection of butterflies and moths, collection care and maintenance, Lepidoptera rearing, and writing reports and articles for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Those applying for this position should be mature, adaptable to a harsh working environment, and highly detail-oriented. This is also a residency position, and Research Assistants are expected to live and work on site at least 5 days per week.
